the git money formula, 6 little kids, & stickers

Hi Friend!

Listen here to experience the excitement in my voice during an announcement later in this email

Have you tried using affirmations before? But found that they either just made you feel stupid because you’re just straight up lying to yourself? - the cringe can almost be unbearable.

I’ve made an honest effort to get affirmations to work for me but as soon as I felt the slightest bit of discomfort I’d be like… “I don’t need this, I already journal.”

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always wanted them to work for me and I know there’s science that proves them effective - I just couldn’t find or come up with a phrase that worked for me… until earlier last week when I accidentally came across the perfect affirmation that feels like the equivalent to drinking your favorite bottled water while parched.

But prior to accidentally coming across this new found affirmation I was being primed by other readings that said stuff like:

“when you repeatedly turn to a pure thought, maintaining it for at least 68 seconds, in a short period of time, that thought becomes a dominant thought. And once you achieve a dominant thought, you will experience matching manifestations until you change it.”

but! the other part it mentioned was that: “within 17 seconds of focusing on something, a matching vibration becomes activated.”

basically this just means you either start feeling better or worse depending on the thought

hmmmm at this point it kinda sounds like an affirmation would be useful here, am I right?

then I read this: ”If you are not expecting it, you are not allowing it”

then this: “You just cannot think about lack of money and let in money.”

and finally this: ”by automatically saying the words, “I can’t afford it,” your brain stops working. Be asking the question, “How can I afford it?” and your brain is put to work.”

So the formula my brain came up with from all this info looked like this:

I know nobody opened up this email expecting to do math but basically put:

If we think about having money, eliminate thoughts about having no money, and then multiply the remaining thoughts using an affirmation, we’ll start feeling better about it and then our behavior will fall in line.

Case in point: my sister-in-law and her 6 kids (all between the ages of 1-10) are visiting me and Abbey this week. We went sightseeing in Washington D.C. and stopped at a gift shop. They do this thing where they collect stickers at places they visit. Obviously this is my jam so Abbey volunteered me to buy the kiddos their stickers. Initially my automatic thoughts about money came flooding in like, “with what money?!” but I immediately pumped the breaks, said my little affirmation, held it in my head for at least 17 seconds, then happily picked out their stickers with them, and put my card into the chip reader with some swag. I even bought myself a popsicle.

I didn’t come across this affirmation from a finance book, a podcast featuring a finance guru, or some lifestyle magazine on the rack at self check out - long story short, I got this affirmation from a phone conversation about friend of a friend (who is very wealthy). As soon we got off the phone I sent them this photo from my journal.

Whether I say it deep in thought, jokingly, or in a little tune - I effing love it and it’s having immediate effects on my behavior so I’m gonna go the extra mile and prove it with an announcement.

But first, I think it's important for you to know what my thoughts were before writing this email:

  • I’m not a finance guru and this is not a finance channel (imposter 🤡)
  • this is a very vulnerable thing for me to share and my friend will likely tell their friend about this email (embarrassing 😳)
  • you’d think i’m desperate, shady, and asking for handouts (someone nobody ever wants to be friends with lol 👹)

BUT!!! Like I said, this affirmation squashed these thoughts got me to this point so here’s the announcement, starting with some bad news.

The Announcement

🫠 The bad news: My sticker shop will no longer be taking orders after June 19th. At this time, it is unknown if or when the shop will be open again due to several variables I will not bore you with.

😎 The good news: Starting today until June 19th, use the code “moneyiscoming” for a 40% discount on your ENTIRE sticker order. However! Orders will not be sent out until June 20th. Order right here right now.

This announcement is exclusive my email list so order now while everything is in stock and before I make this announcement public on Wednesday, June 12th!

Here's your journaling prompt!

What are the automatic negative thoughts I have about money?

What can I replace those thoughts/phrases with?

If there's something you want - an object, a lifestyle, an experience - How can you afford it?

✌🏾TTYL!✌🏾
