A near death experience & free stuff

My friend almost died in the middle of nowhere.

She was making an insane 40-hour drive from Idaho to Alaska—mostly one-lane roads, hardly any rest stops, zero cell service, and the only humans you pass are actually moose.

Think "Ice Road Truckers" but instead she's in a Totoya, RAV 4.

Equally beautiful. Equally dangerous.

At one point, a crazy, lone animal jumped out in front of her, forcing her to slam the brakes and pull over.

And then–something weird happened.

It walked to the side of her window... and just sat there. silent. still. chillin'.

She knew nobody would believe what she was looking at so she rolled down her window to the negative hundred degree air to take a photo.

It was a freaking lynx.

Moments later, back on the road, her car completely spun out like she was being teleported—except she was still on a snowy one-lane road, approaching a bridge, with a colossal truck barreling in behind her.

She described it like a scene straight out of final destination except...

Nothing happened.

No crash. No collateral damage. No tumbling semi trucks destroying a bridge or cars dramatically teetering on a cliff over frigid white waters.

Just stillness again.

Until the truck driver drove by, gave her a thumbs up and said, "You're really lucky!"

The thing about a lynx is that they're super rare, elusive, mysterious and usually do their thing solo - they're sacred to the indigenous people of Alaska and most locals go their entire lifetimes without ever seeing one.

Naturally, my logic oriented brain wanted to make sense of this but I ended up on "Whatismyspiritanimal.com" and it said,

I've been learning that somethings–like this crazy ass lynx sighting coupled with a near death experience–just can't be explained.

But most of us are too busy obsessing over the "hows" that we don't even notice or even ignore the unexplainable, cool, magical breadcrumbs the Universe leaves us.

We speed right past them like zeeeeeew, "I'm too busyyyy!"

Katie could've kept driving because she wanted to hurry up and get to where she was going.

And who knows what would've happened instead if she wasn't perhaps... blessed by this once in a lifetime interaction with a wildcat???

Lately, I’ve been taking my SpongeBob foot off the gas too–slowing down and pulling over to be still with those “weird little ideas” that keep popping up in the shower.

That’s how I ended up building a tool that helps me focus on building more cool stuff like this… in a way that’s whimsical and actually satisfying.

It's not done, but eff it, I'm also allowing myself to share the imperfect version of things I've created to let the rest of the "hows" play out on their own.
