Hey friend, There's a cashier in my neighborhood store that (almost) always asks me how my day is going even if I'm just buying a single grape flavored Olipop. When I reply, "pretty good. How bout you?" he always says, "Good. It's been a productive day." But then there's days where he literally only says, "Need your receipt?" in a monotoned voice. I could be overreaching just to make a point in this email – but my guess is this dude is likely more inclined to ask about my day when he wants to share that he's had a good, productive day. He also just gives me my receipt instead of asking if I want it lol. Nothing wrong with this, but it's now something I can't stop thinking about every time I'm waiting in his line. Like, why do we use productivity like some gold standard for having a good day? This is one of several reasons why I've stopped calling it a productivity app. Even though Task Alignment has overlapping elements with other productivity apps, it's designed to bring awareness of where you've been conditioned to equate productivity with your self-worth. And also, it's been built with the goal to change how you feel when you're NOT using the app. Calm. Chill. And perhaps satisfied with your day regardless if it was productive or not. That being said, I still don't know how to elevator pitch Task Alignment when people ask what it is. So my question for you is: What do you want the words, "Task Alignment" to mean to you? Hit reply and lemme know. TTYL! Simie P.S. Task Alignment is launching in beta form on June 21st, Summer Solstice. More details on how to be the first to access coming soon. |
