Is my lactose intolerance even real?

Sent to the clurb · Nov 2024

Hi Friend,

Super vulnerable moment here... Earlier in the week Abbey made dinner for the two of us scrapping together whatever we had in the fridge. Of the contents was some microwavable tortellini inherited from previous guests.

I've been working more than usual these last few weeks to meet self imposed deadlines before going on a small weekend getaway. So I appreciated her doing this so I could continue editing a new YouTube video coming out this Friday. But here's the thing....

I'm lactose intolerant

Or at least I think so....

I've been sick to my stomach since then but honestly, I'm at the point where I can't tell if it's those god forsaken tortellinis (which were actually decent btw) or if it's because I'm incredibly anxious and stressed.

You see, this is my first video in over 6 months. SIX. MONTHS. And every single step of the process feels completely new to me. Like, how do I work with the lighting in here? Is my place even presentable? Do I still wear my hoodie even when it's scorching hot? And is this topic even worthy of being a comeback video?

And why did I decide to create new stuff that I'm releasing along with it?

Like why did I set the bar so flippin' high for myself? And why am I SO concerned about having everything go so perfectly???

Talk about a formula for constantly bolting to the bathroom. (sorry, I told you this was gonna be a vulnerable moment)

Up until this point I've had so much resistance to releasing everything on Nov 15th. Why?

Because I'm scared. (duh).

But the truth is, if a friend came to me about their confusion over differentiating post tortellini stress and stress from self expectations - this is what I would say:

Is it realistic to think that you could pick up right where you left off after your YouTube muscles haven't been exercised?

Do you really think people are setting Alexa reminders, taking off work and making a grading rubric on what you're coming out with?

Who are you really doing this for? and why?

Also, what's the worst that can happen??? like actually??

And also also, would you eat that tortellini again?

I say all this to remind myself, as well as you all that our perception of our circumstance directly correlates to the intensity of our stress.

and also!

the areas where we have the greatest resistance towards working on will have equal and opposite satisfaction when conquered.

To-da-loo! (I'm so sorry I couldn't help myself here lol)

Simie

P.S. If you enjoy toilet humor and found value in this email you'll probably enjoy this read too.

P.S.S. I probably won't ever eat frozen microwavable tortellini again.
