I’m no longer going to be this person that has this problem.

Hiya!

By now you might have completed and learned a few of things so far:

✅ Listing out your problems

✅ Came up with thoughts phrases that challenge your limiting beliefs

✅ Wrote out a visualization of something you want to happen in your life

If not, you can still benefit from this fun journaling exercise.

My hope is that by the end of this email, you’ll feel pumped to start transforming your identity and have a personalized blue print to being your best self.

I wanna get our brains to…

🧠 find creative solutions to your problems 🧠 default to thoughts or phrases that reflect the person you’re becoming 🧠 believe your visualizations

…in order to “become another person.”

I recognize that this stuff might seem a bit woo woo and what not, but I’ve been doing this pretty much my entire life without knowing and I have no complaints about where it’s gotten me so far. But ever since I started being more intentional with this by putting it in my journal, I grew so much faster out of my old self than I ever have before.

Anyway, here’s the journaling exercise:

*Note* this is ideal if you reserve an entire spread (2 pages next to each other) for this exercise.

Flip back to the page where you wrote out your problems (if this page doesn’t exist for you, write out some annoying to crippling problems you're dealing with). On a new spread, write opposite statements for 3 to 5 of the problems listed. Really push yourself to dream and have fun with the ideas. Even if they seem stupidly impossible. There’s literally nothing to lose and this will expose your brain to making new connections with the world. Oh, and don't judge yourself. So mine would look something like this:

👎🏾Student loan debt 🔄 OPPOSITE: Debt freeeee and making more money than I know what to do with.

👎🏾Long work commute 🔄 OPPOSITE: Not having a work commute at all because I quit my job and happily work from home and beyond. (hehehehehehehe)

👎🏾Dry skin 🔄 OPPOSITE: I have skin so luscious that someone spotted me on the street and asked me to be in an Olay commercial.

👎🏾Not seeing close family/friends 🔄 OPPOSITE: I can get on a plane, boat, bike, car, scooter, or use my legs to go wherever I want, to see whoever I want, whenever I want.

👎🏾Tobi licking his paws non stop 🐕 🔄 OPPOSITE: Tobi’s paws are so hydrated and supple that even his vet is asking me what I’m doing because she’s in disbelief.

Some other ideas could be like:

“I don’t give a flying f*ck about what people think of me and my obsession with Lego at the age of 44.”

“Cleaning my home is fun, easy, and gives me a sense of peace and calmness.”

“I’m so strong and flexible that my back pain went away AND I’m in a pro calisthenics club.”

NEXT: On the next page write out “WHAT I DO DIFFERENTLY.” These are the real life, day to day actions, that would be happening in the reality of your opposite statements.

Some of these actions might have overlap and can contribute to more than one of your amazing opposite realities.

For me, I know that if I continue stick with my plans and actions related to YouTube, I’ll address my student loans and seeing close family or friends. As for my dry skin and Tobi’s paws, if I train him to put lotion on my back, that’s an efficient double whammy right there. (Not what I’m actually gonna do, but now I’m wondering 🤔)

But seriously, I recommend doing this with something you could start immediately after doing this exercise.

Whatever problems you choose to do this with first, go back and scratch it out and confidently tell yourself out loud, “I’m no longer going to be this person that has this problem.” Rinse and repeat as life goes along.

Finally, keep referring to your opposite statements as decision aids. I’m gonna be like, “Would someone with beautiful, glowing skin eat salty instant ramen for 3 days straight and not drink water???” No. And then I behave accordingly.

🚨 (wee woo!) BONUS: Reply to this email with your problems, opposite statements, and what you do differently if you want some accountability. Truly grateful for the support I’m getting from you guys so I’d love to personally support you as well. TTYL!
