Hellur thur! Try listening to this email here! (It's my real voice, not AI lol). Over the last month or so I came across a challenge that I’ve been blessed to never have to deal with until now. Falling asleep. Usually my brain is already tuned into REM sleep before my head even hits the pillow and I become one with the mattress. I’m a log, there is drool, I dream hard, and I wake up - flawless 🐝 Before I started workin from home, I used to journal right before bed for like 1 min and I’d easily slip into lala land. But I realized my journal was now holding me hostage from dreaming about being able to fly over the ocean with my powers. Journaling too close to bed time caused my brain to wind up, not down. So naturally I did what any normal person would do and broke down the intricacies of my evening journaling prompts in my office lab. Since testing this new science experiment I have only had only 1 to 2 nights max of scraping my eyelids on my facemask lol. Here’s what came of the experiment: 👉🏾 End the WORKDAY with my journal not the DAY - because my day is no longer divided with a commute, I needed to signal to my brain that I needed to stop thinking about stimulating ideas. Capeesh.
Funneling all of the stuff going on in my brain in this particular order slows my brain down. If I did it in reverse order I think it’s more obvious why I’d end up counting a zillion sheep before falling asleep. That’s it! So now here’s a quick journaling exercise I have for you: 👉🏾List all the things you typically do in the last 2-3 hours before going to bed. 👉🏾Separate them into two columns: wind up and wind down 👉🏾Observe the order you do the things and see if some rearranging, adding, or subtracting could help. 👉🏾Experiment and see what’s easiest to stick to and gives you favorable results. You are now a scientist of your own sleep. ✌🏾TTYL!✌🏾 Simie P.S. The new skelenaut sticker is coming soon! I'll let you know when it's ready. 🛍️ Shop: My stickers in my videos! 📺 Watch: My Latest Episode on Youtube |
